Operational emissions often drive zero carbon discussions, but they’re only half (and sometimes less than half) the story. This session will equip portfolio owner-occupiers, developers, architects, engineers, general contractors, and consultants with applicable tools, tips, and cutting-edge case studies that demonstrate how to achieve holistic (operational and embodied) zero carbon on single building projects and across real estate portfolios. The session will conclude with a deep dive into the difference in impacts between embodied and operational carbon so participants can communicate the benefits of each and use them to drive impactful project decisions.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES- Participants will be able to evaluate and apply specific strategies to reduce or eliminate embodied carbon in their projects.
- Participants will be able to evaluate and apply specific strategies to reduce or eliminate operational carbon in their projects.
- Participants will be able to drive zero carbon project decisions with a clear grasp of the differences in environmental, health, and financial impact between embodied and operational carbon in buildings.
- Participants will be able to address embodied and operational carbon across a portfolio of real estate.
