Selecting responsible and sustainable buildings products continues to be a thorn in the side of well-meaning project teams, hampering industry progress toward both human health outcomes and climate-friendly building materials.

In this session, hear how building clients, product manufacturers and designers are using the Living Product Challenge and an additional new, holistic material selection methodology to clarify the material procurement conversation for everyone. This approach allows manufacturers to better communicate their achievements with potential buyers and validate their business case for sustainable improvements, while clarifying an incredibly complex procurement process for designers and their clients.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Understand how a building or product certification program provides a framework to guide an organizations sustainability platform
  • Learn through case studies how organizations have used coring tools to make product choices
  • Explore the different avenues of integrating product associated impacts to a manufacturer's corporate social responsibility commitments
  • Gain insights in how taking a comprehensive view of a products sustainability impacts has influenced product selection
