The City of Boston has outlined a pathway to carbon neutrality for new construction that has enormous consequences for the building industry: all-electric buildings, Passive House, and on-site renewable energy. This session highlights Boston’s change-making climate action policy and how project teams are working together in new ways to deliver higher performing buildings. This session begins with a panel discussion where architects, engineers and city representatives come together to discuss transformative case studies from Boston. It concludes with audience dialogue where participants can share lessons learned from engaging with new sustainability policy shaping the built environment in their cities.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES- Understand best practices for zero carbon building design in Boston
- Discover what policies cities around the US are leveraging to scale zero carbon building outcomes
- Explain how architecture and engineering collaboration can enable key zero carbon design decision making
